Tickets are available via an online platform (more information about tickets). They usually go on sale in the April/May before the event takes place in the August. All general admission and seated tickets must be purchased online. For coach parties and accessible seating a form can be completed for a call back.
Yes, there are paths that allow free movement around the Fete, but the canal bank on the North side (Waitrose side) for watching the parades is not accessible. There is a restricted area allocated for wheelchair users but you will need to pre-book a space in the accessible area.
Designated car parks are available for Fete visitors. These are clearly signposted and available from 2pm on the day of the Fete. Visitors are advised to pre-book their parking with their tickets to ensure they get a space. (Book parking)
The fete will still continue whatever the weather, unless there is an extreme weather event that impacts safety of visitors and participants. Pack a brolly and some waterproofs just in case.
Only assistance dogs are allowed into the Fete grounds.
Seats are only available for those who have purchased embankment, towpath or accessible seating.
All general admission ticket holders can bring along small picnic chairs or a rug to place on the canal bank. Be aware the event does get busy and the embankment is steep in places so a rug might be a more suitable option.
Yes,Yes, there are several places on each side of the canal where you can purchase a great range and variety of food and drink. You can also bring a picnic if you prefer.

If you have booked seating, the walkways to the seated area are also steep in places. If you have mobility difficulties you may find this difficult so we recommend the accessible seating area, or towpath seating.
No – whilst paths around the site and the main canal towpath are paved, all the embankments are grass.
Entirely volunteer‑organised, the event depends on ticket sales and the generosity of sponsors. Sponsorship helps to keep the cost of tickets down. The last event cost £134,000 to put on and in addition to that we pay £11,000 annually just for running costs such as insurance, rates, rent, utility bills and accountancy fees.
There are lots of opportunities to support Hythe Venetian Fete. You could help us as a volunteer, either throughout the year as part of our committee, or just on Fete day itself. Each event we need around 300 volunteers to make sure visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience.
